Noriko had planned ahead for this trip, and so had brought her clothes to the bar thus to change without having to take Hannibal to where her room in the mansion was; if all went well she'd only have to take him through the entry hall, and then to the city itself. She came downstairs rather elegantly for someone in five-inch heels and a pencil skirt, smiling at Hannibal.

"So, you ready?" she asked, jacket draped over her arm. "Or did I get all dolled up for nothing?"

"You want to go dark with a girl whose hair--and self--glows," she says. "I don't know if that's oblique humor or just you not having paid attention."

Her hair really does glow. Its cold fluorescence sets off the warm rosy gold jewelry she's wearing spectacularly, especially the pearls in her ears.

"Dark beside your brilliance," Hannibal says.

"So now you're trying flattery?" she asked. "I thought you said this wasn't a date."

"I can still pay my compliments to your style," Hannibal says, "even if the conversation feels a bit like a pas-de-deux with a cactus."

"Oh?" she asks. "Which one of us is the prick?" Noriko asks, brows lifting.

"You know better than to think it means more than it does. If I didn't like you, you wouldn't be in the car with me."

"I would be on top of a mutant cactus, speared by huge spines," Hannibal nods, unconcerned.

"Oh, it's funny how you think you'd be on top," she says offhandedly. "It really is."

"Being underneath a cactus is pointless," Hannibal points out.

"This is rapidly becoming a terrible metaphor," she says dryly.

"If you're underneath a cactus," Hannibal says, "somebody must have planted it over your corpse."

"Nothing says the cactus must be right-side up," Noriko replies. "Someone could have come up to you and turned it over to stick you with the spines." She turned the wheel--thus the car--onto a side street with better parking, nearly at the venue.

"That is a good plan," Hannibal says, "but it requires a compliant adversary."

"Or an unobservant one, either way," she says, sitting back as they turn into the parking structure: it was one that lifted the cars in it up to stack spaces vertically, though you had to get out on the ground level, there being no stairs. She checked to make sure her hair was still where she wanted it to lay, looking over at Hannibal.

"So. You ready for the show?"

"Yes, perfectly," Hannibal says, getting out and offering his arm.

"Planning on offering me that all the way there?" she asked. "It's about a block and a half."

"Of course, if you like," Hannibal says, smirking a little.

"If you're offering, I'll take you up on it," she says.

"It's no hardship at all," Hannibal assures her.

"Wouldn't be my problem if it was, you offered," she says. "Not to be offensive in saying it, but if you offer without considering how hard it is, you need to keep your mouth shut."

Nori takes his arm anyway, resting her fingers around his bicep as they walk. Cars pass them as they turn the corner back onto the sidewalk, several booming a deep booted bass that Noriko clearly enjoys. "Man, I haven't heard Candy Shop in forever."

"I can't say that I have heard it all," Hannibal says. "Is it that music?"

"Yeah, it's music," she says, amused as she falls into step with the booming rhythm. "It's a song about sex, and it's pretty obviously so. I'll let you hear it when we get back."
