He's still careful with her - static and metal can cause large shocks - but he's not careful because he believes her weak or delicate, he's careful because he cares. "I'm willing to put my hands in your hair any time you'd like. For however long you'd like." More than anything, keeping her happy was something he is willing to put a lot of effort in.
Not that doing something which also brought him pleasure was effort.
"Oh I believe I'm awake." Any and all of the above would be fine with him.
